The Day Of Caring Still Happened - Traverse City Ticker

In a slice of good news, United Way's annual Day of Caring event still took place -- despite the pandemic -- including in northern Michigan.

Representatives from United Way of Northwest Michigan report they had more than 160 volunteers sign up to take on local outdoor projects for more than a dozen nonprofits, including weeding, painting, sorting donations, and maintenance work. Twenty-plus teams from local companies and families pitched in to provide vital services. Local school supply donations for third grade teachers also brought in a full UPS trailer.

“We at United Way continue to be astounded by the incredible caring power of our community. Even with the ongoing pandemic, our community has shown up and raised their hands and made an impact. Thank you to all of our incredible game changers and hand raisers for all you do to make an impact in Northwest Michigan,” says Seth Johnson, President of United Way of Northwest Michigan.
