SAN ANTONIO – If you have a loved one who needs special care, it can cause concern and stress. It can be difficult to trust that others will know how to care for them properly -- especially if they suffer from diseases like Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Serenity Oaks Assisted Living, a new care center in Live Oak, specializes in care for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia who are aged 65 and older.
The center is fully secure and has a large private and secure courtyard, covered patios with fans and rockers. There are TVs in all rooms, individual VRF a/c and heating system for each room and built-in wardrobe cabinets.
“We are assisted living and memory care combination,” said Kristy Wilson, owner and executive director of Serenity Oaks Assisted Living. “We do all sorts of activities. Normally we would have more community events, but now we offer social engagement with arts and crafts, music therapy and pet therapy.”
Currently, the senior living care center is allowing visitors to have 30-minute visits on the outdoor patio at a safe distance.
“The people here are very nice and very friendly,” said Yolanda Rios Rangel, ra esident at Serenity Oaks Assisted Living. “The food is very good -- it’s just a good environment.”
The center has an all-inclusive rate structure with no deposits, no community fees and no fee increases for level of care. There are 16 private suites currently available.
“We have a flawless reputation for the quality of care,” said a representative for Serenity Oaks Assisted Living. “We accept respite (short-term guests), (and) this is a great opportunity for families and caregivers to take a break. We are very active and transparent on our social media pages and encourage families to follow.”
