On Friday, United Way will have more than 2,400 volunteers lend a hand in over 255 service projects across Tulsa for the annual Day of Caring.

It's been going on for 30 years and organizers say it's even more important to give back now because of the pandemic.

Some of the services volunteers will do involve cleaning and painting buildings, flowering new plants and much more.

On Friday they will be helping at Youth Services of Tulsa, the Broken Arrow Boys and Girls Club, Global Gardens and City Year.

Tulsa United Way President and CEO Alison Anthony said they not only want to show these community centers that they care, but also give them a boost of morale.

"If they can come in their building and flowers are planted and they can see volunteers out caring and unifying and doing the hard work that they don't always have time to do, it shows them the community cares," Anthony said.

The United Way says more than 6,000 volunteers have helped with community service projects since March.
