Hats off and A plus to all those respectful recyclers who rinse out their food, beverage and other containers. Your efforts help create a safe, pleasant environment for both employees and visitors at the drop-off sites and MRFs, the places where recyclables get baled up.
Sweet drippings left in beverage containers attract wasps and bees, and no one likes getting stung. Having stale beer, sour milk, spaghetti sauce or bleach spill on your clothes is not pleasant. Thank you for removing the metal lids before you toss your glass in a bin. Metal is metal and glass is glass. They do not get melted together to make a new product.
Sorting and cleaning recycling in 2021 reflects the same level of caring that prompted the original, residential recycling programs of decades ago. Your efforts reflect not only caring about recycling workers, but also about the quality of feedstock sent to end-users. Thank you!
Providing clean, sorted feedstock saves time, money, man power and energy. Each of us doing our little part makes a huge difference. Transparent recycling programs reveal exactly what I’m talking about.
