With no end in sight for the COVID-19 crisis, a local martial arts academy is helping essential workers by offering free services.
Warrior’s Way Martial Arts Academy was one of the first to respond to the need, offering free child care for essential health care workers and first responders.
“We've got this Wichita Falls. We're here for you,” they said in a Facebook notice.
Eligible professions for this service include physicians, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, registered nurses, LPNs, nurse assistants, and lab personnel.
First responders eligible for the Warrior’s Way service include police officers, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and firefighters.
The Warriors Way camp hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Children must be 5 or older to participate.
Extra health and safety precautions will be in place and any family member showing symptoms and children with a fever over 100 will not be accepted.
Participating children will be split into groups of 10 or less.
Essential personnel can call or text (940) 202-9699 for the Warrior’s Way camp.
Warrior's Way website can be found here.
Times Record News will be regularly adding to a list of child care centers offering free or reduced services for essential personnel.
Due to increased cleaning and sanitation measures, many child care centers are also experiencing a need for cleaning supplies. Centers are asking for sanitizing wipes (for surfaces), hand sanitizer and paper towels. Please consider donating to a child care center in need.
If you are a child care center owner or manager and your center needs supplies and want to be added to a list, please contact ckowalick@gannett.com, with the name of your facility, address and supplies needed.
