Medical Director of Physician Wellness with Centura Health Dr. Di Thompson recommends these tips to care for community members’ whole health:

Make connections and interact (virtually) with people. These connections and human interactions are important to emotional and spiritual wellness.Check in with feelings. Set a daily alarm to take a few minutes to check in and reflect on feelings. Make adjustments and seek support as needed.Accept feelings, including feelings of grief, anger, fatigue, fear and sadness. It is OK to take time to focus on personal well-being. Slow down and take time to recharge.Acknowledge the holidays will look different this year. Mentally preparing for what will not be the traditional holiday season. Defeating the pandemic requires ongoing effort from communities to follow basic, time-tested personal interventions to fight the virus, including wearing masks when around others, maintaining safe social distancing and properly washing hands.By also taking the time to prioritize personal health and well-being, community members help ensure they remain emotionally prepared for the challenges communities will continue to face while waiting distribution of a safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19.
