The following quote is taken from the column by the county veterans service officer in the September 26 issue of the Tribune: “May we continue the highest level of care for our veterans and their families so it will be the best of any country in the world.”
I had a MRI scan at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. This scan showed problem areas that needed attention and appointments were scheduled. The Veterans Administration refused to authorize these scheduled appointments and they all had to be canceled.
A few days later I received a telephone call from Mayo Clinic saying that I needed to be seen by a surgeon. The Veterans Administration refused to authorize a appointment to see the surgeon even though it was in my authorized time frame.
How could this be the highest level of care of any country in the world?
