Caring Cards Art Installation
Six local artists have teamed up with MedExpress to channel their creativity into cards and help people heal.
On Tuesday, Oct. 5, the MedExpress’s Caring Cards Campaign Art Installation will be on display at 910 Fifth Ave. next to PPG Paints Arena.
Visitors can scan a QR code to send a personalized, digital Caring Card to someone who needs a little mood boost. The Caring Cards campaign will culminate with an art workshop at the Duquesne Boys & Girls Club and a donation of 330 art kits to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania.

People We Love public art installation seeks participants
Show loved ones how much you care through an international public art installation.
Creator Kit Monkman explores the relationship between art and audience through People We Love, an exhibition opening on Oct. 14 at York Minster in the United Kingdom. The work features five, floor-mounted, high-definition screens that are illuminated to show a video portrait of a different face. Each person shown is gazing at a picture of someone they love.
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership wants you to be part of the project. A video studio is set up at One Oxford Centre, at the corner of Smithfield Street and Fourth Avenue, to capture participants’ experiences for the project.
Sign-ups for video sessions, which take approximately 20 minutes, are available through late November. Details can be found on the project’s website. Participants can also request a date and time via email. The indoor video studio is open to fully vaccinated individuals, and only five people at one time are allowed at the studio.
The international collaboration will be exhibited in Pittsburgh in early 2022.
Spooky films wanted for screening
Jump Cut Theater is looking for Halloween- or fall-themed shorts for its Film Kitchen screening on Oct. 12. Local artists can celebrate the season by creating a movie that’s no more than 10 minutes. Submissions must be emailed to series host Matthew Day by Oct. 8. Selections will run at the Parkway Theater in Stowe Township.
