An RV with no heat. A motel room. A house that was meant for four people, but now has seven.
Our featured families in this year's Statesman Season for Caring program are facing enormous housing challenges as Austin has become less affordable.
This extended pandemic has hit them hard. Loss of jobs or reductions in hours. The loss of a beloved mother, leaving older siblings to care for younger siblings.
They are families facing difficult medical challenges: cancer, stroke, genetic disorders. They are caring for children, grandchildren, siblings. Sometimes they are alone.
This year, we ask you to open your hearts and do what you can. Read their stories. Give a monetary donation or find an item on their wish list that you can fulfill.
You will help not only the families you read about here, but also the hundreds of other families each of the local nonprofit partner organizations serve every day.
Make this a true Season for Caring.

Where are they now? Catch up with last year's Statesman Season for Caring families
Each family in the 23rd annual Statesman Season for Caring program has been nominated by a respected Central Texas community service organization.
Every penny you give will be disbursed to these organizations through the nonprofit Austin Community Foundation. Donations in excess of what’s needed to help the featured families will be used by the nominating agencies to help other Central Texas families.
Donors will be sent a receipt for tax purposes. For more information on the campaign, email community@statesman.com or call 512-445-3590.
