CHESTER, NJ - Chester Firefighter Curran Lucke proved to be as good as his surname for one little kitten found wounded on the side of the road near in the area of the firehouse over the weekend.

"This morning while at the firehouse with our Chief Scott Dilley and our Treasurer Ed Windt a gentleman passing by noticed a kitten laying on the side of the road in the area of the firehouse," Lucke posted to social media. "We were unsure what happened, whether a car had hit it or maybe it had gotten into a vehicle and was dumped out or if it was just trying to run across the street."

Lucke said the kitten had blood on her back, shoulders and there was blood coming from her nose.

"Right away myself and our Chester Township OEM Coordinator Bruce Ellmann delivered the kitten to Black River Vet to be checked out," he said.

The kitten, in a photo attached to this post, is alive and well and is at the vet for observation.

"We are looking to see if the kitten has a home and maybe had gotten out unknowingly or if this kitten is a stray," he said. "If anyone has any information regarding ownership please let us know or contact the Black River Vet 908-879-1000."
