Volunteers worked at WAFER, Kane Street Garden
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – La Crosse area employees are playing hookie to volunteer.
It was part of the Great River United Way’s Annual Day of Caring.
United Way volunteers spread out at nine different locations including the Kane Street Garden.
“It’s great to go ahead and be physically involved and see where their donations go to,” said campaign co-chair Joe Endrizzi.
Meantime, volunteers at The Wafer Food pantry helped sort products and restock shelves.
“It’s just a nice opportunity to give back to the community. I feel very blessed in what I have, and so I want to make sure that we can help out other people in need as well,” said volunteer Julie Kaphingst.
The Day of Caring is an annual event, but United Way has opportunities for volunteers any time.
Information is available on the Great Rivers United Way website.
