Alexandria, VA – In its nightly email, the city continues to urge residents to stay at home, unless going out is essential. And when out, they stress the importance of maintaining six feet of distance around others.
Essential Workers Receive Further Support Through Child Care Assistance
Governor Northam announced that an additional $70 Million is available to essential workers through the CARES Act to help cover child care costs. The funding also: 1) provides incentive grants to providers until the end of June; 2) ends co-payments for low-income working families who receive federal subsidy dollars for care; 3) readies schools to act as emergency care shelters, if necessary; and 4) gives funding to currently closed providers who are part of the federal subsidy program.
Parents who are part of Virginia’s subsidy program will have their co-payments waived for April, May, and June. Subsidy staff are available to help and answer questions. Need to reach out? Call 703-746-5437 or email lillian.vagnoni@
