The Well Spouse Association, a national nonprofit organization that has several Southern California support groups, will hold a virtual Spousal Caregivers’ Symposium 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. May 22.
The Well Spouse Association advocates for and addresses the needs of people caring for chronically ill and/or disabled spouses or partners, according to a news release. The organization offers peer-to-peer support and educates health-care professionals and the general public about the challenges and issues well spouses face.
Among the speakers at the symposium are Cynthia Lim, a former spousal caregiver and author of “Wherever You Are: A Memoir of Love, Marriage, and Brain Injury”; and Brent Mausbach of UC San Diego, speaking on “G.R.A.P.E.S: Positive coping and reducing stress for caregivers.”
Cost to attend the virtual symposium is $15. To register, go to www.wellspouse.org and click on events and then symposiums and webinars.
The organization’s Southern California support groups include a Riverside group, which meets 7:30 p.m. the first Friday of each month. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the group is meeting virtually.
For information, contact the group’s facilitator at RiversideWSAsg@wellspouse.org.
