I don’t have space for compost bin
I have no idea what excuses other people use for not composting, but I want to give you mine.
We have a small two-car garage (we have two cars). It already holds a recycle bin and a garbage bin. There is no room for another huge bin. The compost bin is huge.
Our HOA does not allow any bins to be outside except on collection days.
I do compost in the winter (because the odor is too bad in hot weather). I have to drive down to Martin Street to get rid of my compost.
I’d be happy to pay the fee if I could have a smaller bin.

We don’t need more government involvement in health care
I think Jim Hemenway has accurately described the amount, quality, and cost of the current health care system. I don’t think more government involvement will reduce the cost without also reducing the amount and/or the quality of health care, so I don’t agree with any of his proposed solutions.
In 2008, health care was 16% of GDP. He mentions that now it is 18% of GDP. I am 71 years old. People of my generation understood the cynical (but true) saying, “I am from the government, and I am here to help you,” knowing that government involvement means less efficiency, more restrictions, and less personal satisfaction.
I would prefer no increased government involvement. Before you know it, health care will be 20% of GDP. Leave health care alone!
