QUINCY (WGEM) - The United Way of Adams County hosted a "Day of Caring" Friday.
Nearly one-hundred volunteers signed up to help however they could across Adams County.
Eleven locations were selected for the event: Horizons Social Services, Community for Christ assistance center in Camp Point, Cheerful Home, RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteers Program), Transitions of Western Illinois, The Salvation Army Family Store, Advocacy Network, QUANADA, City of Quincy, YMCA, and Mississippi River Valley Boy Scouts of America at Camp Saukenauk.
Barbara Baker Chapin, Director of Development for Transitions of Western Illinois, said she was grateful for the help she received cleaning buses.
"We don't really have the resources to do this kind of cleaning," Chapin said, "So we've done this a number of years and its been a real helpful thing, and we really appreciate their coming and helping us with it."
The United Way hosts similar events every year.
