The Northern Regional Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs is hosting several events in Oneida County over the next couple of weeks.
The trainings will offer information about different statewide services, teach about how to maximize Medicaid services and provide resources on care coordination.
Allison Lourash, the regional program manager, says the center has received lots of calls from Oneida County during the pandemic.
That could be because families in rural areas face particular challenges when seeking care for their children.
“In some areas, we are really lacking providers,” Lourash says. “And that can be a significant barrier to helping families find services and supports to help their children as they grow.”
Lourash says some families have to travel to cities like Madison, Milwaukee and Wausau regularly to visit various doctors and specialists across the state.
That’s not easy, so the center is trying to help by answering questions and connecting families and caregivers in the area.
The trainings are Tuesday, August 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Minocqua Park Complex and from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Rhinelander’s Pioneer Park. Additional trainings are Thursday, August 19, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Minocqua Park Complex and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rhinelander’s Pioneer Park.
Registration is encouraged, but all are welcome to attend.
