CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Health Care for the Homeless is launching a new mobile health clinic to make health care more accessible in Natrona County. The mobile unit is a way for Health Care for the Homeless to reach more people who may need their services.

“We just really want to help get the health care to the people who have a hard time getting here to us. So we get to provide those services where people are located,” said Jennifer Helmer, the Medical Director for Health Care for the Homeless.

The mobile unit is equipped to provide full primary care services, including family medicine. There are plans for Covid-19 vaccination days as well.

“You know we’re trying to reduce the barrier to care. So I really feel like being able to bring health care out from the four walls of the building gets it to where people can access it,” says Helmer.

The mobile unit is already serving different agencies across Natrona County. Anyone who is facing housing insecurity or may be homeless is qualified to use these services.

“It’s very fulfilling to be able to, ya know, really help folks in the way that they need it and be a solution for people that maybe didn’t have that hope and so it’s exciting that we’re about to bring the services to people where they are,” said Helmer.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the mobile unit is planned for Friday, August 6th at Conwell Park.
