Alexandria, VA – In its nightly email, the city continues to urge residents to stay at home, unless going out is essential. And when out, they stress the importance of maintaining six feet of distance around others.

Care at Home

New guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) includes updated information on caring for someone with COVID-19 at home or in a non-healthcare setting. The guidance outlines what to do when someone has coronavirus symptoms or has been diagnosed.

The information also contains strategies for caregivers to keep themselves safe. People should adhere to it when caring for someone who has tested positive but is not showing symptoms.

Lastly, older adults and those with serious underlying medical conditions at any age are at higher risk for developing severe illness. Individuals at high risk should call their doctor as soon as symptoms begin.

Updated Cleaning Procedures

The CDC has released new information on cleaning homes and businesses. As states begin considering reopening plans, the CDC urges all organizations to make a cleaning and disinfecting plan to ensure that both employees and the public stay safe. Virtual Job Fair

There is great news for those who have lost jobs during the pandemic. Virginia Career Works is hosting a virtual job fair on May 13. There are three time slots available: 9-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m., and 5-7 p.m.

Participation is free, but registration is required. Attendees will need access to a desktop computer, laptop, phone, or tablet.

During the three sessions, participants will have the opportunity to meet employers via text chats in a private chat room. Employers will also have the ability to initiate one-on-one video chats with job seekers.
