A Day of Caring volunteer works at Eagle Nest Elementary School in Dorchester County during the 2019 event.

COVID-19 has changed the way we handle most all aspects of our lives. From school and social gatherings and sporting events to ways to benefit our community, 2020 has changed the rules on everything.

Trident United Way’s Day of Caring, the area’s largest single day of community service, will be on Nov. 20, 2020, also the 20th anniversary of this special event.

This year TUW has lined up an agenda of virtual and remote activities, with little to no contact with others. In other words, COVID-19 changed our world, and now we’re changing to stay safe and keep each other safe while benefiting the community.

Day of Caring provides a unique opportunity for agencies and schools to strengthen partnerships with the community. Throughout the day, volunteers will complete agency projects such as supply drives, letters to seniors, cleaning up community areas and much more.

Registration, already underway, will continue through Nov. 6. To obtain a match to a project, email dayofcaring@ tuw.org or call 843-740-7737. Learn more at tuw.org/dayofcaring.

In 2019, more than 5,500 participants from 139 companies completed approximately 264 projects at 152 sites.

That equals 23,000 volunteer hours with an estimated community benefit of $262,000.

The year 2020 doesn’t have to be all bad. Your help can make Nov. 20, 2020, a memorable one that leaves a lasting and positive impact by taking part in Trident United Way Day of Caring.
